Dear Tom:

I hasten to reply to your letter of 5 February in connection
with the possibility of my talking to the School an April 27th or 29th.
While I have no prior engagement an which I can hang my
regrets, I really think I had better cancel out on any plans to get
down there this fiscal year. but if I am still gainfully employed next
fiscal year, I would be happy to take another crack at it. The fact
of the matter is that we are going through so many .adjustments and
changes of personnel here at the Washington level, and things
generally are so disturbed throughout the world and either Mr.
:Cane or I (being the only two statutory appointees) must be on
bat all times, it is just simply too complicated at the moment to
no &* a co mitment.
How r, many thanks, for thinking of me again and I know we
will be in touch.

Just now I'm catching up on my correspondence with
the School for you to make that delayed appearance. How
about April? We will have a Career Course in residence.
Say April the 27th or 29th? It will be Springtime in the Rockies!
Classification will be Secret-NoForn.
Ruth will. be ready at that time to jump off for Europe.
She and her sister who lives in Phoenix have signed up for
a three week tour of Europe. The Empire Club here has
organized a group trip. They leave on 28 April.
