Approved For Release 2003/05/05 : CIA-RDP80B01676R000300130012-4 Z7 July 1964 1. -/ Major General Tom V. Stayton Commandant U. S. Army Air Defense School Fort Bliss, Texas Many thanks for your letter of 12 June telling me about kissing 600 cadets goodbye -- I would have replied sooner but the Message Center sent your letter down to our Office of Security to determine if you were the type of fellow I should be writing to! ! As for my trip to El Paso, I could probably plan on coming down on the fifth and have a reasonably good chance of making it. I would fly down on the afternoon of the fourth, spend the night, give my talk the next day, and quietly bug out shortly thereafter. This, of course, is highly tentative at this stage of the game -- in this vale of tears one never knows what may happen by November -- but I would be happy to plan on it. Please let me know at your convenience what time you want me to talk, for how long, and what about -- I would probably prefer a strictly U. S. audience at a Secret level but can conform to whatever your requirements are. Glad that Torchy is back in good shape and hope all goes well with you both. Faithfully yours, Is/ Pat Marshall S.
