Dear Les:
Just a note to express may appreciation for the statement
you made on the floor of the House concerning the Central
intelligence Agency. I feel that your statement will do much
to straighten out the record which has become badly distorted
to the detriment of CIA because of some totally inaccurate
and unfortunate statements made in spaeche.s and articles by a
few individuals, including' some members of Congress.
Your remarks were most helpful not only with respect
to the record. but also in connection with the morale of the
organization for, as you know, we are all human and hence
boil under unfair criticism which we, cannot, for obvious
reasons, answer.
I hope that the snow is gone for good and that we will
have a chance to gent together at Burning Trot..
