This is in response to your Jotters to Mr. = CCone of
13 s--`ay and Z6 May 1964 rith regard t,3 arrangements for
re res*atatives of the Ceentrai Intetii;;eencee Agency to oartici4,ate
in a fearing before the `foreign s ratimns and Government
Information ;ubcornmitteee on thsa subject of the olygraphs
l eorssexetative:s of the Agency have discussed with you our
c oceern for the proper security precautions to ;protect what we
regard as sensitive informatita-.
It is . ny endeerstandin that the arrangements mutually
agreed u rns include the following: (a) the hearing would be in
executive session; (b) no publicity attendant u~)em the hearing
although it is ressco nieed that your re7ort will, of coerce. refer
t. f,artici;aation by Agency witnesses; (c) duty to the sensitivity of
the material to be covered, the transcri apt, together with the
res:*orter's notes, will be Meld by the Agency with the transcript
available uion request of any merTAber of the Subcommittee;
(d) if any item is touched an which is reeccarded by the Agency
,vitnessaees as particularly sensitive, the ree )orteer will be excused
from the hearing roo ra; and (a) the report will 'bee reviewed with
me nbers of my staff to insure against inaevertent disclosure of
sensitive infornmation.

In your most recent letter. you auggeetsd the dates of
2. 3. and 4 Jxune. Unfortunately, of the key A= ency officials
who would be involved in the hearing can not be available on those
specific dates. I would like to suggest that members of our
res;ctive staffs attempt to work out mutually convenient dates.
I wish to assure you that the Agency is desirous of being fully
coOoerative in providing maximum assistance and information
to the aubcon; nittee in this most itnoortant area of activity. I
do a3areciate your cooperation in working out these arrangements
