MEMORANDUM FOR ALL HOLDERS OF
NATIONAL SECURITY ACTION MEMORANDUM NO. 204
Owing to a clerical error, the United States Information Agency,
although listed as an addressee of NSAM No. 204, was not included
among those departments and agencies designated in the body of the
NSAM as members of the Special Group (CI).
To effect.the necessary correction, NSAM No. 204 has been revised
and is attached hereto. "United States Information Agency" has
been inserted in the list of the members of the Special Group (CI),
and the words, "as amended by NSAM No. 180" have been added
to the first sentence of the second paragraph.

The Administrator, Agency for International Development
The Director, United States Information Agency
SUBJECT: Special Group (Counter-Insurgency)
Since General Taylor has taken up his duties as Chairman of the
joint Chiefs of Staff, the following changes are made in the Special
Group (C. I.). The following Departments and Agencies shall be
members of the Special Group (C. I.):
Department of State (Chairman)
Department of Defense
Department of Justice
Joint Chiefs of Staff
Agency for International Development
Central Intelligence Agency
United States Information Agency
White House
I will expect that the various Departments and Agencies will be
represented on the Special Group by the same officials who are
listed in NSAM No. 124, as amended by NSAM No. 180. A White
House representative will be provided through the Special Assist-
ant for National Security Affairs, and Mr. Michael V. Forrestal
is designated for this purpose. The White House representative
will be available to assist the Chairman and any member of the
Special Group in any matter where White House coordination is
needed, and it will be his responsibility to keep me fully informed.
