Dear General Pathlov.
Thank you very much for your kind letter of October 11th con-
cornigg my lecture to the War College. i am glad that it proved to be
informative and contributed to the knowledge of the class.
D rtag our discussion before the talk on the 9th I mentioned
we had done a purvey of the situation in Colombia which I thought might
prove *seful to you when you reach the couaeriastatar'ge>aa~y phase. I am
attaching a copy of that rather voluminous survey which, although two
years old, is undoubtedly pertinent to a very large degree. We would
appreciate it if these volumes can be returned at the end of the academic
year or whenever they have served your purpose. I have also talked to
Col. d. Caldwell King, who is chief of our Western Hemisphere Division,
and advised him that you planned to devote some effect on the counter-
Insurgency phase to Colombia. Col. King has indicated that the Division
would be more than pleased to assist you in any mariner possible during
this work. I would suggest that your staff deal directly with Col. King
Re can be reached on Co 25X1
]lease don't hesitate to call on us if there to anything further that
may do to be of "sistance.
