Admiral Rose and I would like to extend to you our sincere
appreciation on behalf of both of our institutions for helping us reach
a better understanding of the contribution of the intelligence com-
munity to the formulation of national security policy. Your excellent
talk and the ensuing discussions last Wednesday, 9 October, were
stimulating and informative and will, I am sure, continue to provide
a sound and authoritative basis for our later studies.
Knowing the heavy demands on your time, we are particu-
larly grateful that you were able to remain for the informal discus-
sion after the question period.
As a memento of your visit, I have inclosed a photograph
taken upon your arrival at The National War College.
