Approved For Release 2006/08/09 : I 8 5548003300260022-8 15 May 1979 MEMORANDUM FOR: Deputy to the DCI for Collection Tasking FROM: Director of Central Intelligence SUBJECT: National System Support to Tactical Commanders (U) We've talked a great deal about how we can provide better service from national systems to military tactical commanders. I wonder if it would be useful at this point to draw three diagrams of how national satellite-derived photographic information gets from the point of receipt in the United States to representative tactical commanders, e.g., Commander Sixth Fleet, a Corps Commander in Germany, and a Wing Commander in Germany. This would enable us to look also at where in the process there's any fusion with similar or complementary intelligence obtained from tactical assets as well as any blending with other nationally-derived information. Perhaps if we understand better how we are attempting to do it today we will be able to make a better judgment on how we might best do it tomorrow. (S) cc: D/DCI/RM R'G AL C!
