1. The attached invitation reached me today. After speaking
with about it, I have learned that my participation
in the meeting as recommended by Deputy Assistant
Secretary of State tor a i.n America William Luers. I am also
acquainted with because of mutual interest in
Cuba.
2. 1 _J has assured me that, although representatives
of the me is wi be present, there will be no live coverage and
that all discussions will be off the record. Cuba will be the
sole topic for the evening--about 20 persons will be present.
3. I plan to participate in the meeting unless there is :;omCSTAT
reason arguing against it that I have overlooked.
