A. SYSTEM TITLE AND ACRONYM -- Document Storage and
Retrieval System
B. SPONSORING ORGANIZATION -- State (A/OPR/ADP)
C. PROJECT CONTACT OFFICER -- Mr. W. Wallace Francis
D. TYPE OF SYSTEM -- Document Storage and Retrieval (DSERS)
E. STATUS -- Under development
F. SYSTEM FUNCTIONS -- This system will provide a centralized

the Department's Communication Center through ATS (see
index) will be indexed from CRTs. All State telegrams
will be held on-line for three months and approximately
one-half of these will remain on-line for three years.
All messages will be held in micro-image form. Document
text will be output from the computer in a form of
Computer Output Microfilm for archival purposes.
Messages may be retrieved from the "Index Records
and Full Text" storage device by message number,
originator, geographic code, subject code, name
tag, or combinations of these.

F. SYSTEM FUNCTIONS -- IRISA is a computerized index of
information reports (IRs). The 24 data elements used
to describe IRs include IR number, date, title, SICR
number, source number, project number, plain text names
(of significant persons, places, installations, organ-
izations, and ships), and geographic coordinates of
places and installations. All data elements may be used
in searching. In addition to being an aid to retrieval,
IRISA is the data base for a series of IR collection
management reports. Initiated in September 1971, when
DIA terminated IR input to MINICARD/File Search, IRISA
contains IRs since 1 September 1971, indexed in the DIA
Statement of Intelligence Interest Code (SIIC). IRISA
complements DIA's IRFLA file. Retrievals are serviced
through the DIA Library. Duplicate tapes are available
for other users.
