C. 20505 We are writing to you as one of a highly select group of people who are professionally interested in China's domestic affairs and its role in international relations. I do not think that it is necessary to indicate why we have chosen this moment to draw your attention to our series of publications dealing with China. I am enclosing sample copies of each of the six Chinese journals that we have been publishing for several years. I am also en- closing, for your convenience, a mailing piece that succinctly describes the journals, as well as an evaluation of our Asian series that recently appeared in Library Journal. The IASP journals provide translations of important mainland Chinese material that originally appeared in scholarly publi- cations, books and newspapers. The editor of each journal is a specialist in the corresponding field and knows Chinese. He selects the items for translation and checks the translations for accuracy and completeness. His efforts are supported by an advisory committee of distinguished scholars. The journals are intended to be as comprehensive as possible in the areas that they cover. They offer both current and background material. They are objective in nature, that is, they are designed to provide information rather than to ad- vance any particular point of view. We hope that you will examine the enclosed journals in terms of their potential value to you and to others who might share your interest. Sincerely, FA/ot 011Ca 0 Fred Ablin Approved For Release 2005/07/22: CIA-RDP80BO14 Q~QQ 20c2l,4-pres ident and Editorial Director
