MEi40RATIDUM FOR: Executive Secretary, CIA Career Council
SUBJECT: Report on Individual Career Development Planning
Program
REFERENCE: Memo from Executive Secretary, CIA Career Council,
Same Subject, dated 9 February 1956
1. Transmitted herewith are the reports of the IP, 00 and
OCR Career Services.
2. The IP Career Service report consists chiefly of
individual statements from its component office boards. The IP
Board has left individual career planning largely to its offices
but has, however, been discussing the principles and policies
that should control such planning. It is the plan of the Board
to determine and issue basic policy in this field for the
guidance of all DD/I offices and Service Boards. This has not
yet been done.
3. With respect to specific answers to data requested in the
reference memorandum, the IP Board itself has no formally laid
out individual plans at hand or planned. It has, however,
discussed and approved the future assignments of some 25 individuals
in a'manner that represents career planning for periods of from
six months to two years.
L-. It is expected that by the Career Council meeting of
1 March the DD/I area will have determined a basic policy and
modus operandi for individual career planning and will be prepared
to present its views.
