Subject: CLOSER COORDINATION BETWEEN VOICE OF JMEHICA PROGRAMS AND AMERICAN
FORCES NETWORK PROGR .Y[S.
Representatives of HICOG met informally with American Forces
Network officials and entire-news staff on August 16, 1950 in an effort
to achieve closer coordination between the Voice of America p grams and
the American Forces Network. AFN was generally receptive to the sug-
gestions put forth for AFN, using Voice of America and AFRS shortwave news
broadcasts in addition to Department overnight guidances in the handling
of AWN. programs. Arrangements were made for closer coordination, both
on Land and Headquarters levels, between AF'N correspondents and editors
with HICOG radio officers, both in field and headquarters.
