Representatives of HICOG met informally with American Forces Network officials and entire-news staff on August 16, 1950 in an effort to achieve closer coordination between the Voice of America p grams and the American Forces Network. AFN was generally receptive to the sug- gestions put forth for AFN, using Voice of America and AFRS shortwave news broadcasts in addition to Department overnight guidances in the handling of AWN. programs.
