Security information
With respect to interview of individuals having knree of
conditions in the USSR and leading Soviet personalities,
that he was in agreement that actual sponge reports could serve the
purpose of current data; that what he had in mind was actually an exten-
sion of the assig went had for CENIS which filled the gaps and
extended the work he did. This would involve interviews with any Soviet
refugees or exiles who left Russia and might have information which to
date has not been systematically weaned from them and would serve the
following two purposes:
a. Provide significant data on personalities of top leaders
which might have some clue for interpretation of future events.
b. Biographical data on individuals which could be used for
fomenting suspicion and conflict between rival cliques, br creating
rival cliques by feeding such data into proper hands.
