11 LIAISON Accompanied Loch
Johnson, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence staff,
to briefings at Headquarters by Robert Gambino, Director of
Security, and hief, Covert Action Staff. Mr.
Gambino gave Loch an overview of Security's responsibilities
and spoke in detail on applicant and empl ation
procedures and the use of the polygraph. discussed
the two most recent Presidential Findings gave 25X1
background on the use of reprogramming re ing, 25X1
and considered the idea of a two-tier briefing system (oral and
specific to selected staff, more general to Members) for future
notification on Findings. Mr. Johns on as nqked for follow-up
discussions in the near future with and with

2. LIAISON Received a call from
Mrs. Cok tTie olllc Representative Robert Lagomarsino
(R., Calif.), requesting a copy of the National Basic Intelligence
Factbook, which was forwarded to her.
3. LIAISON Received a call from
Duane Andrews, House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence
staff, who asked that we send a cable to Jim Bush, also of the
Committee staff, informing him of the re-election of Representatives
Edward P. Boland (D., Mass.), Bill D. Burlison (D., Mo..),
J. Kenneth Robinson (R., Va.), and Senator William D. Hathaway
(D., Maine).
4. LIAISON Called Duane Andrews, House
Permanen ec committee on Intelligence staff, to ask if
Representative Bill D. Burlison (D., Mo.) could meet with the
Director on either 21 or 27 November for lunch and for briefings on
his upcoming trip. After checking with the Congressman's office,
Andrews said the 21st was out and the 27th was available, but
that Mr. Burlison would be leaving town that day and would prefer
to have the day open for cleaning up office matters. Andrews said
they would prefer 24 November, but would leave it to the Director
as to whether he needed to see Mr. Burlison or not. I asked
OLC, to get a reading from Fred Hitz.

concerning the two most recent Presidential Findings. After a
lengthy discussion, Miller said the Committee would probably ask
for a formal briefing within the next two weeks.

to Senator Adlai Stevenson (D., Ill.) that there was no develop-
ment of such significance in the areas that he would be visiting
soon, which he should be apprised of. I also expressed our
gratitude for the Senator's willingness to raise issues abroad
for us but said we did not need to ask for his assistance.

questions about current situations in Iran. Questions were prompted5X1
by interested constituents who are of Itanian extraction. First
question was to what extent is there public support of recent military
