1, LEGISLATION Called the House
Permanent Select ommi ee on Intelligence and talked with
Bernie Raimo, Counsel. I asked Mr. Raimo about the status
of H.R. 7308,the Electronic Surveillance bill. Mr. Raimo
indicated that the next step would be for Representatives
Edward Boland (D., Mass.), Chairman, HPSCI, and Peter Rodino, Jr?
(D., N.J.), Chairman House Judiciary, to go forward to the House
Rules Committee with a letter requesting a hearing to settle
on the rules for floor action on the bill. At this stage the
Committee cannot anticipate when floor action might take place
on the bill.
