Senate Select. ee on Intelligence staff, who wanted to alert me he
had received a call from Jerry Cohen of Jack Anderson's staff. Cohen
said there is a rumor that the Italian Government had requested assistance
from CIA regarding the kidnapping of Aldo Moro and that we had refused
to help. I told Davis I didn't think we would want to comment on that but
that I would check.
10. HEARING Attended a meeting of the
Intelligence uni y al t an the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence
staff to discuss Intelligence Community Staff reorganization.
11. I LIAISON Talked to. Lynn Harvey, in the
office of Representative Robert K. Dornan (R. , Calif. ), to respond to the
Congressman's letter to the Director about alleged Soviet activities in
Cuba. I explained to her that the news article in the London Daily Telegraph
by Robert Moss was innaccurate andthat there is no evidence to indicate
that the Soviets are constructing submaring pens in Ceinfuegos Harbor
or that they are secretly smuggling strategic offensive weapons into Cuba.
I told her that we would be happy to brief the Congressman on this but that
these were the essential facts. She said she would check with him and call
us if a briefing was necessary.
