15. (Unclassified - THW) BRIEFING Spoke with Jack Brady, Chief
of Staff, House International Relations Committee, and we agreed on 3 May
at 2:30 p. m. for the time for the briefing of the Committee on the Middle
East arms balance.
16. (Unclassified - THW) LIAISON Bill Hoffman, Chief of Staff
for Senator Mike Gravel (D. , Alaska), called saying that the Senator was
interested in putting together a joint commission on a sea level canal now
that the Panama Canal Treaties have been signed. He said that from time
to time the Senator would be talking to Latin American officials and asked
if we could support him in terms of biographical background. I said we
would be glad to be of help if we could. He asked if we had any bio data
get back to him.

17. (Confidential - LLM) LIAISON In the company of
C/NE/DDO, met with Senator Daniel Moynihan D. N.Y.). Things went
well. The Senator was persuaded and made adjustrats
in pages of his manuscript. As a secondary matter, 77.j Senator mentioned
how he was going to use the comment on Echeverria in the Agee book in his
campaign to quash Echevara's chances to become the Secretary General of
the U. N.

25. (Internal Use Only - RJK) LIAISON Called Barbara Aliem,
Senate Foreign Relations Committee staff, and asked that the Committee
update the background information on George W. Ashworth, also of the
Committee staff. This is so the Agency can proceed to process the
Committee request for one additional compartmented clearance. Ms. Allem
told me that she would alert us when the Committee requested the update.
26. (Unclassified - HMS) LIAISON Received a call from Al Tarabochia,
on the staff of the Subcommittee on Criminal Laws and Procedures, Senate
Judiciary Committee, requesting a copy of an FBIS report entitled
"Cuban Involvement in Ethiopia. " I told him it would b e sent to him. FBIS

28. (Unclassified - JEC) LEGISLATION Called Ronald McCluskey,
Assistant Counsel and Staff Director for the Subcommittee on Compensation
and Employee Benefits, House Post Office and Civil Service Committee. He
confirmed my impression that the new physicians pay bill (a copy of which we
have not yet received) included the changes we recommended to OMB.
