3. Ikebnik's Hportance lies in being the administrative center for the
Igwarectwo weenowe (coal mine area).( Regarding industry, Rybnik has only
two leather factories, two furniture faCtories, one brewery, two large
distilleries, one large printing enterprise and several brickkilns in the
suburban area. The largest plant Within the town itself is an enterprise for the
production of machinery. In Pruszowice, located nearby, the 'Silesia' enamel
works, one of the largest enterprises of this type in all of Poland, is
located. After World War II, out of all these enterprises only 'Silesia'
retained its former importance and the machinery plant was specialized for
the manufacture of machinery for coal mines only. In addition, the
administrative body for the coal mines kept its seat in Rybnik under the new
name: 'Rybnickie EITILAILe Przemyslu Weglowegol. Its offices are now in the
so-called missionaries' house01-,74(oeeiiiiko street.
