Little time is allowed them in Hong Kong, even if they want to contact their relatives. (2) The schools are known in Chinese as Hua-chfiao Sheng-hsueh yu-pei pan (i.e., classes for advanced education for overseas Chinese) and are located in Canton, Wuhan, Peking, Shanghai and possibly in other large cities. (3) In these classes two subjects are taught intensively: Chinese language (Kuo-yii) and party principles. Students who are already proficient in Kuo-yu are given training in the Russian language. Very few are assigned to medical schools. 3. Practically no latitude is given the students in the selection of a school. Even local party leaders have little voice in the matter. Canton and Shanghai newspapers available in Hong Kong have published no vital information about their assignments.
