Attention is invited to the fact that the off-sets from the mole represent small 'wooden niers against which the vessels dock, keeping the vesse s out approximately 50 feet from the concrete Quay. These Sov:let, vessels noted in the harbor appeare to be old German-i,7pe of less than Victory-ship size. Indicates the location of a floating barge-t-ipe structure on which is built a combination cafe-hotel two stori in height. indicate other berthing areas for vessels in the harbor however I there were no ships docked at these berths0 ur reresI th50X1-1M location of a shipyard 'which vas engaged in handling r/epairs on small craft of the fishing type. 1K" is the location of a military installation indicated on the chart as the Burum-Tabiya Fort and at Batum there was military activity in evidence at this fort; buildings which appeared to be military barracks were noted and a con&lderable number of uniformed men were seen in the area. "L" indicates the location of another military location indicated on the chart as Bartekhana Fort. Military barra .ks and uniformed men were also noted in this location. All shipping at the pert of Beton apparently docks at the Petroleum Earbor as the Cabotage arbor, noted on the chart, is of extremely shallow depth and no weasels were noted in this area. The weather was clear and with an average temperature of 80-90 degrees. No wreaks or construction were noted in the Petroleum !arbor, Prevailing winds at the time were from the so.othwest and were mild0 at times south- westerly a4 northwesterly winds are ao heavy that difficulty in berthing ships is experienced and at times due to swells in the harbor, it is necessary that the vessels move out fro the docks. NO extreme tidal changes were noted. 50X1 -HUM 3. The docks in the Petroleum Harbor appeared to be in usable condition, built, of c orete, and, as previously mentioned, with abutting wooden piers which kept Vessels approximately 50 feet from the dock proper. All docks were well-lighted electrically and there a alareil to be adequate supplies of water, coal and oil in the harbor. Pipelines take up most of the space of the docks on the north and east of Petroleum Earbor. On the general cargo dock, on the south side of Petroleum !arbor, two eight-ton steam portable cranes., with apprcximately a 50-foot reach, were noted, .ese cranes appeared to be old but still serviceable. BO other cranes Were noted en any of the ether cks nor were any floating cranes noted inetheiharbor.
