A. Summary of Suggestion
"I recommend the use of the 'Water Saver Hose Connection"o This
is a flexible nozzle with a built-in valve controlled by a spring
which cuts off imscediately when water pressure is on The water flows
by simply applying slight pressure and bending the nozzle. It can
easily be installed by attaching it to any standard male hose connection.
This nozzle costs $2.98 retail.
"There are many possible applications for this unit within the
Printing Services Division and an indeterminable number within the
Agency. Printing Services Division at this writing could use at
least twenty."
On 3.2 September :1957 the Office of Logistics stated-
"The uggest i_on that a 'Water Saver Hose Connection
be used for fiLlins-, photographic and photostat tanks to
eliminate the waste and slopping of water has been adopted
by the Printing Services Division.,
'Since this suggestion is applicable to all photographic
and photostat installations, it is suggested that it be re-
ferred to OCR and. T SS for consideration for possible adoption
by these componen?us .
'"'Thin suggestion will not result in any direct savings
but will have enumerable intangible benefits, such as:
Reduction of time necessary for walking to and
turning on and off the valve.
Preventing water from being splashed over the
equipment and on the floor.
o .tint safety by eliminating wet and slippery
floors o
Providing a shut-off of water supply should the
operator fail to turn off the main valve.

"The Printing Services Division does not consider
the suggestion of improvements such as this within the
responsibility of the suggester.
"It is suggested that an appropriate award be de-
termined after evaluation by the components mentioned
in paragraph 2."
On 14 October 1957 the office of Central Reference, machine
Division stated:
"The suggestion advocating the use of the 'Water Saver
Bose Connection' has been adopted by the Machine Division,
OCR. This piece of equipment will be used for filling our
chemical mixing tanks but its use is not applicable to the
type of Photostat machine we use.
"The benefits derived from the use of this connector
in the Machine Division are SLIGHT and the application is
LIMITED."
On 11 November 1957 TSS/Administration stated:
"This suggestion was reviewed by Chief, 25X1A
TSS/Photographic Division and he feels TSS has no use
for such a 'gadget'.
