STATINTL WB $3.42 (GS-11)
Photographer, Printing Services Division, OL, DD/S
A. Summary of Suggestion
The suggester proposes an improved clamping device for copy-
boards on monotype cameras by modifying four (4) clamps which
provide a tight seal for the glass cover and copy board. The
old clamps used a 3/4 inch square block of groved aluminum
(~.....' } while the new provides inclines to the block for rapid
and correct seating of clamps. Details of design are in the
attached drawing.
B. Summary of Evaluations
On 10 September 1957, the Office of Logistics stated:
"The suggestion that an improved clamping device be
installed on the copy board of the Monotype camera in
the Printing Services Division's Administration Building
Plant is being adopted. Division personnel will make
the installation.
"This suggestion will result in intangible savings
only through the elimination of the trouble encountered
in seating the clamp on the present installation. A
nominal award is recommended."
On 14 October 1957, TSS/GARD made the following comment:
"TSS/GARD concurs in the recommendation. It should
be pointed out that this is a very limited-use suggestion
as it is for a specific piece of equipment."
On 20 December 1957, Machine Division/OCR stated:
"This is a limited use suggestion that is not ap-
plicable to the filming operations in OCR, however, the
suggestion seems worthy of the recommendation accompanying
it."
On 26 December 1957, the Office of the DD/I stated:
"This suggestion has no application to any DD/I
operations."

On 12 September 1957, Chief, Administrative Staff, OL stated:
"The suggestion that there be developed a device to raise
the rear leg of the tripod of a Model E Portable Micro-
film Camera has been adopted by the Printing Services
Division and has been in effect for several months. This
device has proved very effective in filming records that
are composed of Kardex trays. It has improved the quality
of the film and has resulted in obtaining good quality of
prints from this type of material.
"This suggestion will result in no direct savings but will
have the effect of improving the quality of reproduction
and the versatility of the camera operation. A nominal
award based upon these intangible benefits is recommended.
"It is recommended that this suggestion be referred to
FI/RI for possible use in the filming of their vital
materials."
This suggestion was forwarded to RI, TSS, OCR and ORR. None
of these offices have any present need of this item.
