1, A restricted area begins immediately on leaving Rerik. Just outside.town a
high wooden fence has been -constructed barring the way to the peninsula, Access
can only be gained through a large. gateway where severe connrols'are garried out
on all those entering and leaving.
2. On the peninsula, approximately 100 m from the gateway described abovei there are
24 barracks situated on both sides of the road. Each was occupied by 35 to 40
Soviet map with black shoulderboards,
3e. On the northern beach, dispersed at intervals of approximately 100 m 4nong the

and troops. The guns were drawn by tractors which had a caterpi]J r with five
wheels plus two driving gears and three top idlers. It appeared velar to
the Ya-12 (spoked wheels), The gun carriages had four wheels with tires,
The gyn barrel, which had an approximate caliber of 80mm, rested on a
support and had a conical shaped muzzle brake with several slits in the side.
The length of the gun, from wheel to wheel, was between 5 and 6 m, The gun
mechanism was covered,
sand dunep, were six covered guns with barrels pointing seaward, The barrels had
an estimated length of 3 m. It is quite possible that additional guns were
emplaced #.n. further stretches of the dunes 'which could not be.`visited,'
Between 50 to 60 tanks are reported, to be on. the peninsula,

d, The tractors were loaded with dark-green cases approximately 80 cm x 50 cm
x 40 cm. On two of these cases inscriptions in Russian and the figure 30
were seen,
7. The runway of the old airfield has been extended to 2000 a but on 20 and 21
October no aircraft were seen. In spite of this.. Soviet officers and enlisted
men were stationed there. The officers live in the renovated quarters with their
families, Black and yellow shoulderboards were seen, The former hospital is
completely deserted,
8. On 21 October coal was being delivered to Wustrow from Rerik and Neubukow. The
four trucks and troops with black shoulderboarde which were engaged in this
operation were from the Wuetrow garrison.
