Building 10 housed Soviet dependents. Building-11 Section lla housed billets of Air Force Unit Strativnov. Section lib housed billets of an army construction unit. Supply officer of this unit was Major Gorodobyedov (fnu) and, prior to 15 April 1955, Major Osetrov (fnu). The 121 of the unit wore black- bordered black epaulets with an insignia similar to the one worn by road construction personnel. Road rollers, cranes and other equipment were observed opposite the billets. The motor pool of the unit was located outside of t; barracks installation in the ftaj w duaT& farm "Entenfang" in Area A. The personnel strength of the unit was estimated at 150 to 200 men,.. Section Ile housed a small gymnasium. Section lid housed a motion picture theater. Section lle housed billets of Air Force Unit Strativnov. Section llf housed the school of Air Force Unit Gaikin. Building 12 housed a swimming pool and a large heating plant. Building: 13 housed Soviet dependents. Building 14 housed an officer kitchen and officers' club. Building. 15 was the guardhouse. Building 16 housed Soviet dependents. Are_a A. motor vehicle parking site of Unit Gorodobyedov. Area 8. Kleiner fitenfaengerberg, with previously reported radio installation. Additional sections of the mountain-are being cleared. It appears that another radio installation is located on the mountain. Area C, underground command bunker, separated from the barracks installation by a high and dense board fence. This bunker, which has not yet been entered, is apparently not occupied but ready for occupation. Area D. athletic field. 2. The following details were known about the units billeted in r.ildpark West Kaserne: It could not be determined where the units, except for Unit Gorodobyedov, parked their motor vehicles. It is possible that there were garages which have not yet been observed. It appears that Unit Galkin is independent, while Unit Golubov J.s subordinated to Unit Strativnov. The individual unite approximately had the following strength: Unit Zevakin 400 to 500 men Unit salayev 400 to 500 men Unit Borovik 80 to 100 men Unit Gorodobyedov 200 men Unit Strativnov 500 to 700 men including Unit Galkin and Unit Golubov in Wildpark West Kaserne: Comment. The following units are believed -:o be quartered a. An air force construction battalion under the rorzrnand of Lieutenant Colonel Strativnov. Two construction units with Captain Golubov and Major Galkin as chiefs were probably assigned to the battalion. Groups of the two unite are detached to various airfields, in particular for grading work. b. An army signal unit under the conmand of Lieutenant Colonel Zevakin. Clements of this unit were transferred to the Hindenburg Kaserne in Leipzig in April 1954. It is unknown if the elements wore two independent unit, or if they were connected with one another. c. A signal unit under the command of Captain Borovik. This unit probably furnished the personnel for the radar station on Kleinen Bntenfaen ;erberg. d. Air borce Unit Plalayev possibly including personnel of the headquarters of the Twenty-Fourth Air Army in 'erder. The missions of this unit are not known. e. An army construction unit with the assigned supply officer Major Gorodobyedov. For layout sketch of Wildpark-West Kaserne9 zee Annex.
