1. A new town naffed Lunca Pbmosului is under construction to accommodate the 25X1
employees of the Resita metallurgical plants. The area under con-
struction is located about two kilometers north of the town of Montana, or
about two kilometers north of the Resita metallurgical pla-:ts. The town
extends above five kilometers in length but is only a few hundred meters
in width. Lunca Pbmosului is connected by two bus lines-A Mesita-Montana,
and Resita-Romana.
2. The buildings completed to date, representing sixty percent of those
planned, are destined solely for workers in the Resita metallurgical
plants and various State stores which will serve the area. The majority
of the buildings already completed and occupied are comprised of blocks
of three and four 4loors with family apartments. There also exists a
block currently occupied by bachelors and known as "Block 800" because
it contains 800 identical rooms, each room being occupied by four people.
3. There are approximately-80,000 people employed by the Resita Combine.
Of this number it is necessary to deduct those who work in sections not
located in Resita proper but also belonging to the Combine. The towns
of Montana and Lunca Pomosului account for more than 10,000 inbabitairts
without including the military and security units stationed there.
The Soviet strength is composed of several hundred civilians who p4rti-
cipate in the various specialized commissions assigned to the,Combine,.
