On 6 June, an untested source observed at the Brandenburg railroad station a sidetracked train carrying 60 guns which were described as follows: one-axle gun carriage with pneumatic tires and wheels the size of sedan wheels, tubular split trails, gun barrel about 1 meter long and with a caliber of 70 to 80 mm, recoil brake slightly longer than 50 on, protective shield, gun not higher than 75 om, with a certain resemblance to the model M-43 76-mm infantry gun. Another usually reliable source reported that 6 x 45-mm AT guns each were shipped from the ordnance depot of GSFG in Jueterbog to Prora/Ruegen and Rostock (shipment-record No 51/6855) on 16 4. Two more usually reliable sources observed guns, allegedly of this caliber, with the 6th Arty Div in Rathenow, namely 3 AT guns (arrivals?) on 18 June and 20 AT guns during loadings of units of thi division on 19 June. 5. The above observations, some of which supplement each other, can be summarized as follows: a. On 4 June, some 350, allegedly light, AT guns arrived from the USSR and, from the border, were distributed among depots and distribution points. The shipment, which was observed in Brandenburg on 6 June, was presumably that bound for I,loegelin. b. On 16 June, the guns were forwarded to the brigades of the IV Arty Corps in Prora and Rostock from the GSFG ordnance and equipment depot in Jueterbog. c. The new arrivals presumably did not involve conventional weapons sUch as M-37 or M-42 45 mm AT guns or M-43 76-mm infantry guns. It is rather believed that, within the framework of the modernization of the weapon equipment of units of GSFG, a*s under way, recoilless guns were being introduced. Information received during the last months, tended to indicate that several guns of this type may be in existence at the posts.
