1. Soviet Personnel Chan es in Danube Shipping Concerns. In early April 1955, the Soviet
port uire`toi the et DSSG in ricnna., K37iotfibkin (fuu), was replaced, by
Kaaenskv (fnu 1.
As of 6 May, no replacement had arrived for Shilov (fnu), the chief bookkeeper of
the Soviet DDSG who had left for the Soviet Union in February.
3. On about 25 April, Melnikov (fnu) replaced Kissiiiev (fnuu)l as Soviet director of the
Korneburg Shipyards..:
4. During May 1955, Kuprianov (fnu), a high official in the BOVW. Ministry of
Inland Shipping Outside the USSR, was assigned to Budapest as chief of the SDGP
agency. Since his rank is out of proportion to the duties presently performed by
the SDGP in Budapest, it is believed that the SDGP will transfer the major part of
the activities handled by the Vienna agency to Budapest.

1955. In addition to all the barges and tankers now~held by the Sotriet DDSG, the
Austrians allegedly will receive the MS VLADIVOSTC. 'X and the KRCRSTADT. Instead
of the MS KAUKASUS, the ,goviet UDSG has offered to turn -over the 14S RIGA, which was
recently coil.te4 by the Korneuburg Shipyards at a reported cost of. 9,c 00, 000
sehillings. on 16 May, an inspection party of Austrian D= officials vas taken
aboard the MS RIGA at Korneuburg. The future disposition of the passenger ship
TD 'S, now rented by Navrom, and the MS M01iJAK, which is claimed by Mahart as former
HM property, is still. under negotiation.
During May, Austrian seamen employed by the Vienna agency of the SDGP received term-
ination notices effective after the ratification of the Austrian State Treaty. The
Vienna agency is expected to retain only a skeleton staff. SDGP vessels coming to
Lobau to pick up the Soviet share of the Austrian oil production will t

shore leave in Vienna.
