PLACE ACQUIRED DATE ACQUIRED East Germany Main Administration for Industrial Requirements, Formerly HV-18 of the Ministry of Machine Construction DATE DISTR. NO. OF PAGES REQUIREMENT NO. Y. C~~1~.o1E This is UNEVALUATED Information Prior to April 1955, HV 18 was a main administration of the then East German Ministry of Machine Construction. Following the split-up of the I .nis try and the consequent formation of two new Ministries - the Ministry of General Machine Construction and the Ministry of Heavy Machine Construction - the status of HV 18 again became cloudy. By May 1955, it became clear that HV 18 had been renamed, and was called HV Induetrie Bedarf - the Main Administration for Industrial Requirements. It has been reported as being closely associated with the new Ministry of Heavy Machine Construction, with its construction projects carried out by the Bau-Unions (construction offices) under the direction of the Ministry of the Interior. However, since the Ministry of General Machine Construction includes the other main administrations for the production of transport equipment (with the exception of ships), it appears more likely that this Ministry will eventually redsive jurisdiction over the Main Administration for Industrial Requirements, which is engaged almost exclusively in aircraft production. The ,financial support of the Main Administration for Industrial Requirements stems from a secret fund not generally associated with either of tba two Machine Construction Ministries. 25X1 Y., X ARMY X NAVY X AIR FBI AEC (Notes Washington distribution Indicated by "X"; Field distribution by "#".)
