1. Dr. Krohs (fnu), chief of the TEE Carl Zeiss, Jena.. Cell Laboratory
(-Ze),1 and his colleagues have recently completed research and
development work on image converter tubes for infrared use. Dr.
Krohs' group, as well as another parallel research group at Zeiss
Jena,2 has been working on this type of research for the past two 25X1
years in complete secrecy. The technical details, measurements,
and sizes of the tubes were not known.
2. Zeiss; Jena, is now preparing for zero series production of one or
two different types of image converter tubes for infrared which they
hope to have finished in time for the 1955 Leipzig Fall Fair.
3. Aside from the normal security precautions surrounding this type of
research and production, the plant has instituted additional security
safeguards since it wants this new image converter tube to be a com-
plete surprise to its domestic and foreign competitors at the Leipzig
Fall Fair.
