Toward the end of May 1955, VED Carl Zeiss; Jena. received an inquiry regarding naval rangefinders (Entfernungamesser) with a two-aster base from Central Development Office . (Zentralee Eatwioklu4gsbuero)1o.1 located at Wolgast near Greifswald, otherwise unidentified. 2. During World War II, Zeiss Jena produced various naval-type range- finders, but their most common models had either a one-aster base or a four-meter base. As of May 1955, no production or development of a two-meter base rangefinder had been undertaken by Zeiss Jena. 3? Zeiss replied to the Central Development Office No. 1 that the requested two-meter-base rangefinder was not available and that no production of this item was contemplated in the near future. At!
