The "Feetigungastaette Weimar" (E inch Plant i:'aizar) of VEB Carl Zeiss, Jena, is located its "Minter dem Bahnhof" in Weimar, in a building previ- ously used as an wginsering 9ohool. A new storage shed has been added since Zeiss took over this installation. 2. Although in late 1953 and early 195k, the total labor fbrce of the 'anch Plant in Weimar.only comprised about 600 workers and. employees, this number 'had risen to about 1,280 to 1,300 by February - March 1955. Of this number, about 65 percent are women. About 780 persona.are engaged in the various production shops;'.90 in inspection and control; about 150 are apprentioes; and the remainder are maintenance, transportation, auxiliary, or super- visory personnel. a. The chief of the Weimar branch plant is Gerhard Senfl, MW member, and a member of the Weimar City Council. He is attending a course at the Stralsund Party School. b.
