Between 0800 and 1500 on 22 February 1955, 38 MiG-15s were observed at Wiener Neustadt airfield. Additional aircraft were possibly parked in 25X1 the depression near the pyrotechnic plant. There was a 1010 overcast at an altitude of about 1,000 meters, light snowfall, a northwesterly wind of about 8 km/h and visibility of up to 1,000 meters. No air activity was conducted. Personnel and motor vehicles observed at the flight control station included: 2 officer wearing blue-bordered blue epaulets and 18 EM wearing black-bordered blue epaulets coming from the direction of the Nachrichten Kaserne; 3 Majors and 1 lieutenant colonel wearing blue-bordered blue epaulets comi from the direction of the Artillerie Kaserne; Jeep an se an with drivers wearing black-bordered blue epaulets and occupied by officers wearing blue-bordered blue epaulets. The garage was closed. The following motor vehicles were seen: Under lean-to roofs: 4 trucks 2 van-like trucks 4 Stalin-type tractors In the yard: 2 trucks 1 trailer for a command bus installation: ambulance ) with driver wearing 25X1 truck ) black-bordered blue epaulets The AA gun emplacement and southern AA bunker were not occupied. Motor vehicles were still parked northwest of the emplacement. The take-off strips were being cleaned of snow by snow plows.towed by Stalin-type tractors. One MiG-15 without wings was seen at the eastern side of the aircraft repair hangar northeast of the flight control station. At about noon, 24 EM wearing black-bordered blue epaulets were seen marching from the direction of the flight control station. Artillerie Kaserne. Sentries wearing black-bordered blue epaulets were posted at the gate. Motor vehicles parked under lean-to roofs included: 2 trucks 3 radio trucks In the open: 22jeeps 1 sedan 1 truck There was vehicular traffic by the following vehicles with drivers wearing black-bordered blue epaulets: Seda Jeep Cantonment west of Wiener Neustadt. The installation was guarded by sentiies wearing red-bordered black epaulets. Motor vehicles and artillery pieces seen there included: 12 x 37-mm AA guns 18 trucks 4 trucks mounti AA machine guns 1 van-like truck and with driver wearing red-bordered 25X1 black epaulets and artillery insignia, leaving the cantonment. Comment. Wiener Neustadt airfield is still occupied by two Soviet fighter regiments.
