The plant would then produce the testing equipment by June. However, since only very little money had been received by July 1954, the plant was unable on 1 July to increase the qcontrol as planned from 20 to 60 percent. In May 1954, the plant asked TT4 o;On import Moscow through the ministry a n d CIA (German Import a n d Export) t post abe the target date about two months. Since the Soviet insisted on the achofixle date, the products were piled up in the depot. 2. By July 1954, 35,000 to 38,00 Radeberg. By late July, the stocks of 12"-tubes at the BF Plant had been increased to 6,000 units, because, after 1 July, this type tubes had to be subjected to 625-hour intermittent life tests and, if the requirements were not met, the tee were to be repeated with twice as many tubes. The life tests were not to be accomplished in conventional television sets, but rather in special devices at which not enough units were available. During the tests, the grid of the picture tubes was modulated by means of impulses given by a central impulse generator. The cables extending from this generator to the test stands were affected by so many disturbances-7 hat they had to be laid in iron tubes through three floors. CD NO. 25X1 MM 25X1 NO. or PAW NO. The major defects included the insulation between filament and cathode, eensitivity to noise and wel%ina acid assembly faults. 13- M. a quality conference on 30 July 1954,held under the chairmanship of Dr Richter (fru} , representatives of the test stations and the quality ocntroi.k,''.isw-.esed hl a my or difficulties including ti-v-- insufficient adheoiVe strength of the sockets and the defewtiv'e insulation between filament r,rid cathode.
