Between 0815 and 1400 on 11 February 1955 28 MiG-15s and 2 Yak-lls were parked at Parndorf airfield. 1 There was a 510 overcast at an altitude of about 2,000 meters, northwesterl wind of about 15 km/h and good visibility to as far as the Leithagebirge (Mts. At about 0815, a Yak-11 approached from the east and landed. Subsequently, there was air activity by MiG-15s which had beAn parked at the eastern edge of the field. The aircraft t8ok off and landed from east to west. After taking off, the aircraft disappeared from view toward the west and re-appeared from the east before leading. gfter landing the MiG-15s taxied back to their dispersal ar?as. Between 1151 and 1400, there was no air activity. 2 2. Sent s were seen pa#rolling the em lacement which was occu ied b 6 x 3mm AA guns. Siz trucks 125X1 2 van-like trucks and 1 Moakov c - pe van- a ru were p e er lean-to roofs. Two trucks, 4 van-like tracks and 3 tank trunks wars parked in the open. Two battery charging carts were parked in front of the battery charging station. Thick cables connected the carts with the building. The noise of a running engine was heard from inside the building. The ftad dump was guarded by a sentry. The Kniferest-type and Fishnet-type radar seta were guarded by sentries. During air activity the sets were not in operation. 3 A wooden hangar was being ereceted at the aircraft repair installation. The northern side of the hangar was open. No aircrsft were seen there. The former agricultural school in Brack/Leitha was warded b a sent wearing black-bordered blue epaulets.. Trucks with civilian assistant driver, and fire track all of them with drivers wearing - ordered blue epau e a Rene seen in traffic. Comment. Parndorf airfield is still occupied by one Soviet fighter regiment. 2. _ Comment. Air activity observed indicates that young pilots received initial flight training. As usually new personnel had arrived in fall. Comment. The fact that the radar eats were not in operation during r ac i~vity also indicates that initial~~aining was perfox~ed. 4? Comment.
