1. The Zentrallaboratorium fuer Fernmeldetechnik (Central Laboratory for
Telecommunications Technology - ZEF) has completed the development of a
mobile semiautotitatic '. teletype switchboard for 40 subscribers. The order
for this development was given by the East German Ministry of the In-
terior in early 1954.
2. The indtallation is mounted on a 5-ton IPA Diesel truck. It consists.of
two relay-operated switch racks for 20 subscribers each, a current-
supply installation, a distributor rack, a :semiautomatic = control stag25X1
(Handvermittlungssehrank) operated with the aid of Kellog switches, a
desk with three teletypewriters, two connei:tionrplates (Linschlussplat..en)
for connection with either the telephone or power net, and a convey
The teletypewriters were provided by the Ministr of the Interior.

3. Two 5-ton IFA Diesel trucks are now equipped with the instruments mentioned.
They will be delivered to the Ministry dt the Interior and tested. If
the trial operations are successful, the Ministry of the Interior will
issue an order for a larger number of these mobile teletype installations
to be used by the various arms of the Volkepolizei.
