Each vessel was about 100 feet long, and it had a short forecastle, a bridge superstructure, one stack near the bridge, and several One of the vessels was towing a 25X1 on shore about five miles north of Dvina Lightship. a large number of barracks near the signal station. Work was in progress on the roofs. the sheds were to be used for a barking installation since they were located in the area where the barking was done. When ship left the harbor it passed a hopper-birge, 2tixl which was being towed to Chizhov Island.(N 64-45, E 40-33). 25X1 4. The bridge between Solombala and Arkhangelsk was finished on the Arkhangelsk side. o indication that there would be a span in order to open 25X1 the bridge. He estimated the height of the pillars to be about fifteen meters. 5. one aircraft in Arkhangelsk. It was a twin-engined 25X1 propeller-driven aircraft which landed at Keg Island (N 64-32, E 40-28). There was also a large transport ship there. This vessel was about 8,000 to 9,000 tons and was similar to an ordinary passenger ship of an obsolete type. The vessel was painted gray and it had two stacks,,two masts, and no armament, the ship flew a flag with some blue coloring on it. There were some anI motor-barges on both aides of the vessel. 7. On an earlier trip to Arkhangelsk at the and of June 1954, a large explosion in the 7 of the Ponoy River (N 67-00, E 41-15). At the time of the observation, ship was north of Cape Orlov (N 67-13, E 41-18),Pabout twenty nautical miles from the explosion area. The explosion was seen as a large flame which shot skyward. There was little smoke and no noise was heard.
