1. A new v:+apons factory was constructed in the town of Alexandrow, which is
approximately 12 kilometers west from Lodz. The factory is situated near
the western edge of the town and on the north side of the highway to
Pabianice. The factory was completed in 1953 and began manufacturing light
weapons in th- summer of 1953. The chief product is the Bren type machine
pistol, with a vertically inserted magazine adapted to Soviet ammunition
(7.62 mm. caliber).
2. The director of the plant is Engineer Dr. Stanislaw Czarnecki; the deputy
director is the technical director and chief engineer Julius Zemek, formerly
one of the best engineers in the Brno Arsmlmvnt Works (Zbrojovka Brno) in
Brno, Czechoslovakia.
3, The following comprise the labor force of the plant:

b. 16 draftsmen
c. 12 clerks
d. 7 stenogrpphera
e. 12 senior mechanics
f. 6 assistant mechanics
g. 17 foremen
h. 478 workers

4. The monthly production of the plant is as follows:
a. 2,000 machine pistols of 7.62 mm. caliber with vertically inserted magazine.
b. 250 machine pistols of 7.62 mm. caliber with drum magazine. '

c. 15,000 reserve vertically inserted magazines for 7.62 am. caliber.
d. 350 reserve drum magazines for 7.62 me. caliber.
e. 200 tripods for light machine guns of 7.62 mm. caliber.
The machine pistols are tested on a firing range 300 meters long. The weapons
are accepted at the factory by a Soviet acceptance commission. The commission
intermittently tests weapons which have already been tested. The accepted
weapons are loaded on the factory trucks and transported to the Lodz freight
station. The entire production is sent to the Soviet Union via Brest; the
route beyond that city is not known.
6. No change in the schedule is foreseen for 1954. In 1955, however, production
is expected to increase by at least 30 percent. A new product win allegedly
be manufactured: a new type of light machine gun, of medium weight and 7.62 mm.
caliber. The plans for this weapon were being worked on. By September 1951;
the first ten prototypes were supposed to be :-ady for practical experiments.

A new industrial shed was under construction for the manufacture of this new
weapon and was to be ready by August of 1954. All of the machinery and
equipment is being supplied by the USSR and Czechoslovakia.
8. Additional engineers are to be hired, and the labor force is to be increased
to approximately 1,300.
