REMARKS
Between 7 and 14 November 1954, the following observations on
Parndorf airfield were made when passing by the field or from
Bruck on the Leitha River:
7 November. No air activity was observed from Bruck/Leitha. There 25X1
was a closed ceiling and poor visibility.
8 November. No air activity was observed from Bruck/Leitha. There was
a 9/10 overcast and rain. At 1800, the runway strip was lighted. There
was no activity at the field.
9 November. At about 0500, the runway strip was lighted. No air activity
was observed from Bruck/Leitha later on. There was a 9/10 overcast and
rain.
10 and 11 November. No air activity was observed from Bruck/Leitha. There
was a 9/10 overcast and rain.
12 November. At about 0100, the field and its installations were not
lighted. There was rain. Between 1300 and 1400, there was no air activity.
There was a closed ceiling and rain. Aircraft parked at the field included
22 jet aircraft, 1 monoplane with two-bladed propeller and 1 biplane. No
details were observed because of poor visibility. The runway strip and a
major part of the field were flooded. Soldiers wearing rubber boots were
digging ditehes to drain off the water,
13 and 14 November. No air activity was observed from Bruck/Leitha. There
was a 1/10 overcast.

Comment. Parndorf airfield is believed to be occupied by one
Soviet fighter regiment.
