Approximately 500 mechanics in Tientsin were to be transferred
10 December 1954
to the newly-built machinery factory in Taiyuan (N 37-1+2, E 112-30 as part of
a reconstruction project for the area. This factory was equipped with modern
Soviet machines. In order to train the men to operate the machinery,' they were
divided into four groups and were given a three-week course of instruction in
Tientsin. On arrival in Taiyuan each man was to be provided by the factory
with food, housing,. and daily necessities. 25X1
Comment. This is probably a reference to the T'aiyuan heavy machinery
factory, which has been under construction since 1951 and which is, according
to Peiping, furnished with Soviet machinery.
