The performance of VEB Funkwerk Koepenick has given cause for complaint to such an extent that official circles are suggesting a review of the financial preference enjoyed by the enterprise as a key industry (Schwerpunktbetrieb). Representatives of the Ministry for Machine Construction have approached the management of the VEB Werk fuer Fernmeldewesen HF, Berlin-Oberschoeneweide, with the request that a committee of experts be set up to sunervise the development work of VEB Funkwerk Koepenick. The suggested committee would include Plant Director Bormanne Dr. Phys. Walter Rohde; a member of the Planning Department;and an executive officer of the Ministry. The names of the last two members are not known. Bormann and Rohde have been bound to strictest secrecy in connection with this matter. 3. There are complaints of serious negligence in the work of VEB Sachsenwerk Radeberg, which has caused valuable employees to leave. The Ministry is consic, ering taking action against people who continually change their jobs (inside East Germany) and imposing an absolute ban on transfers from one enterprise to another of the same type. 4? On 4 October 1954, Johannes Gradeoki, the chief of the East German Main Administra.- tion for Radio and Telecommunications Engineering (HV RFT), visited the VEB Werk fuer Fernmeldewesen HF and, in the presenoe of Director Rudi Mueller and the heads of the main departments, stated that he had revised his views on the relative efficiency of the three plants and now considered the HF plant to be the best.
