The Poznan-Krzesiny airfield was constructed by the Germans during World War Its but was almost complete3.y destroyed at tYie end of the war. Rebuilding began early in 19511 and. was still going on in July 1954. 2. The airfield was due south of Poznan. Its-dimensions are approximately two km, by three km. From the east the' airfield is bardered~by the railway line Poznan-Ostrow and the v311ages Minikowoa Garaszewo and Krzes3ny;,from the south by fields of the villages Koninko and 9ypniewo, from the hest by fig5.ds of Gluszyna village and from the north by the small town of 5taroleka. 3. In July 1954 there were approximately 60 MIG-15s on the airfield. They stand in small groups on various. points on the field and are covered with canvas sheets. `The main hangar can house 8 to 10 MIG-15s. Qnly damaged planes were in the hangar in July 1954. _ 4. There is a repair workshop inside the main hangar. D~t,ring the winter 1953/54 crates and phcking`cases containing spare parts for MT(~ aircraft arrived at the airfield (origin not known). shortly afteroTards newly assembled MIGs began to emerge from the hangar. 5, The take-off riu~mray is approximately 2000 meters long and links with a number of branch runways. 6. The stores near Koninko are very large and are guarded by~patrols and sentries of the airfield security unit.: 1luring the German occupations underground workshops and an aircraft factorQvexi.sted~on this site.
