1. During 1950, Polish shipyards, notably the United Polish Shipyards in Gdansk
(Danzig), constructed five vessels of the same type] i.e,, SOLDEK, JEDNOSC 25X1
ROBOTNICZA, BRYGADA MAKOWSKIEGO, PSTROWSKI, and WIECZOREK. All the vessels
were put into service in 1950,-except the PSTROWSKI and WIECZOREK.
2. The shiest engines were constructed by the Zgoda Foundry in Katowice. The
machines (sic) in.the WIECZOREK are of inferior quality. Since there.were
difficulties with the machinery in the SOLDEK it was decided to transfer to
the SOLDEK the machinery assigned to the WIECZOREK.
3. After various technical difficulties, the S.S. WIECZOREK sailed on its first
voyage on 13 January 1954 to Luebeok. On her return, it was discovered that
two engine pistons were completely out of order. Engines of foreign manufao--
ture are preferred to those of Polish manufacture,
