OF PAGES 1 REQUIREMENT NO. RD 25X1A I THE SOURCE EVALUATIONS IN THIS REPORT ARE DEFINITIVE. THE APPRAISAL OF CONTENT IS TENTATIVE. 1. Six boxcars arrived in Guatemala City from Puerto Barrios on 19 May at 0600 hours. Six cars were scheduled to arrive ` in: Guatemala City at 1200 hours on 19'May9"and 10 boxcars were_to-leave Puerto Barrios for the capital city at 2200 hours on 19 May, The~'cars were being unloaded at night only. The entire freight-yard area in Guatemala City is heavily guarded by troops carrying sub-machine-guns'and rifles. 2. Equal portions of the cargo are being carried by truck to the Base Militar and the Guardia de Honor. Col. Carlos Enrique DIAZ Chief of the Guatemalan Armed Forces and Col. Jose Angel SANCHEZ, Guatemalan Minister of Defense., entered the Guardia de Honor together the afternoon of 18 May accompanied by several high-ranking Army officers. 3. President ARBENZ stated that he is planning to bring in European technicians and/or pilots and release the present U.So Military } ssion,as the members of the latter know nothing about the arms now arriving in Guatemala.
