1. As of June 1953, the Tonga Trading Company was in Ingok-tong, C11'6ngjin, with
its office in a two story building formerly used by a Chinese restaurant. This
firm was the only private trading company in Ch'ongjin, and was controlled by
the.North Korean army. The firm dealt with companies in Vladivostok and in the
principal cities in Manchuria, and occasionally sent representatives to Shanghai,
Canton, .nd Macao. Its chief exports included apples and pears for the USSR
and sea iroducts for Communist China. It imported medical equipment, medicine,
and clothing i terial and miscellaneous items from Communist China.
Including the officers listed below, the company had about twelve employees.
