Major Alfonso MARTINEZ Estevez, Chief of the National Agrarian
Department of Guatemala, returned to Guatemala on 27 February
1951, from Europe, where he reportedly purchased arms for the
Guatemalan Government. Salomon PINTO, Guatemalan Military
Attache in France, reportedly is in charge of the negotiations
in France for the purchase of the arms. The Guatemalan Govern-
ment has assigned Major Rene VALENZUELA, former Guatemalan
Military Attache in El Salvador, the task of getting the arms
into Guatemala on the Pacific side through Tiquisate.
