In the middle of November 1953, Czechoslovakian sport and training aircraft were demonstrated in Sehoenhagen near Trebbin with the aim of selling them to the Volks- polizei and the Dresden Technische Hochschule. One of each of the following three types of aircraft was exhibited: (a) Twin-engined, 4-seater, mid-wing plane with retractable undercarriage, (b) Single-engined, 2-seater trainer, with retractable undercarriage. (c) Single-engined, 3-seater sport aircraft, with retractable undercarriage. The aircraft were flown by Czechoslovakian pilots attached to the Volkspolizei and by two professors and an experienced senior student of the Dresden Technische Hochschule. 2. VEB "Waggonbau Gotha" built about 160 gliders of type SG 38 in series production up tq the beginning of December 1953. At the present time, a 2-seater machine is being developed for glider instruction and practice. It can also be adapted for blind flying. 3. The VEB' Nagema Muehlenbau of Bad Schmiedeberg, about 30 kras south of Dresden, built SG 38 gliders in series production up to 1 August 1953. At the end of December 1953, the company was building Gruenau Baby 2 B'glider in series pro- duction. Some time before late December 1953, an association (Interessengemeinschaft) located near Leipzig submitted a design for a stunt-flying glider (Segel-Kunst- flugmaschine) to the Technical Acceptance Commission in Berlin. This commission did not consider itself competent to deal with the matter and delegated its authority to "Waggonbau Gotha". The proposed design was found to be unserviceable. in a subsequent test.
