REFER NCES- - - PAGES 2 ae ENCLOSURES (NO. & TYPE) REMARKS - SOURCE 1- 25X1 Between 9 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. on 4 February 1954/ 27 MiG-15s were parked near the flight -control station and 10 MIG-15s near Badener Strasse at Wiener Neustadt -(0 48/ fX 34) airfield. The depresssion near the pyrotechnics plant could not be observed because of light ground fog. The area around the flight control station could also not entirely be observed. Prior to 9:45 a.m., there was light snowfall, then a 7/10 overcast at v4ing altitudes, no wind. Visibility was limited by light ground fog and a temperature of minus 10 centigrades. There was air activity by the 141G-15s parked near Badener Strasse. The aircraft took off and landed from north to south and,while flying, sometimes disappeared in the clouds. Between 9:20 a.m. and 10:30 aum., the MiG-15s took off individually at intervals of 5 to 12 minutes. Once two MiGe15s took off at an interval of 30 seconds. Aircraft Nos 225, 209Y and 256 were identified on aircraft involved in f1ying.1 There was no flying between 10:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. During air activity, I command bue trailer, 6 trucks and 1 jeep were observed near Badener Strasse. A van-like truck which flashed red signals at about 5 seconds intervals toward the north-northeast was parked at a point in line with the southernmost searchlight of the northern row of searchlighte. No changes were observed in the status of the flight control station. The eastern garage installation was guarded by a sentry wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. Five truck e were parked there. No vehicular traffic or any other activities were observed there. Five trucks were parked in the motor vehicle shed, while a tank truck was parked in front of it. The southern AA gun emplacement appeared dilapidated. The southern AAA bunker area was unguarded. No changes were observed at the southern row of search lights. The antenna mast with cone-shaped bracings in the depression near the pyrotechnics plant had apparently been diemantled. The antenna mast, about 6 meters high, east of the southern row of searchlights was observed at its previous location. No changes were observed on the status of the cone-shaped antenna with disc on top west of the Woellersdorfer Strasse stop, on the antenna mast with cone-shaped bracings north of the northern row of searchlights, on the PKV-45 DIP station northwest of Theresien- feld, on the antenna mast with cone-shaped bracings northwest of Theresienfeld, and on the cone-shaped antenna with disc on top at the southwestern corner of the flight control station. 2. There was only little traffic by personnel wearing black-bordered blue epaulets at the Theresienfeld aircrgrt repair shop, Thetinstallation was guarded by a sentry wearing fur clothing . The doors of the hangar were closed. Ten gray crates were piled up in front of the hangar while no aircraft were seen outside of it. The quar- tering installations at the field were occupied by personnel wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. 6ECRET. The cantonmeat west of Wiener Neustadt was guarded, by a sentry wearing black-bordered blue epaulets end was frequented by personnel wearing red-bordered black epaulets, part of them with artillery insignia. eight 37-mm AA guns, part of them covered by tarpaulies, 6 PA machine guns on tripods fitted on gun carriages, and 17 trucks were observed in the cantonment. The AA practice firing installations were unehanged. The status of buildings Nos 28 and 33 on Wiener Strasee as well as that of the storage ti,,Tot on deichs Strasse wes unchenged. There was only light personnel traffic. A. Between 1:30 p.m. and 2 p.en on 4 February, the former officers/ candidate school wes guarded by a sentry and frequented by personnel wearing black-bordered blue epaulets. From driving practices seen, source inferred that the installation was still occupied by the driving echool.
