On 25 December 1953, 15 tons of corrugated iron, purchased by the Nan Kuang Company, were shipped from Macao to Kongmoon on the CHIN LI. 3. By order of the Chinese Communist authorities in Amoy, the CIHIEN AN, a motor junk of approximately 100-ton capacity and flying the Chinese Communist flag, arrived at Macao on 29 December and unloaded 30 tons of white wax and 15 tons of lead plates that haci been purchased in -long Kon4r by thelNan Kuang Company. After unloading, the vessel immediately departed for Amoy. Washington Comment d, the activities of the CHIEN AN, a vessel previously reported s transporting goods from Macao to Amoy, are incomprehensible, in view o the number of junks engaged in carrying goods from Hong Kong to Macao, it is unlikely that an Amoy junk should be used for this purposee It also seems unlikely that the goods described had been rejected by the Chinese Communists in Amoy as defective. It seems probable that in the transmission of this item the expression "on-loaded" was misinterpreted as "unloaded."
