1. in November 1953,, some billets at Werder
airfield were repaired and.subsequently occupied by VPL personnel including 1 major,
1 captain, and 4 lieutenants.l
2. At the end of November., the first dependents of Soviet officers arrivsd in Werder
and a school for Soviet children was established at Werder airfield. About 70 Sovl oofi
women and children arrived by- 5 December. On 23 November, the checking of pause's
was itensified in the restricted area and the number of patrols was increasedL,

a laboratory on the mound floor and the ordnance shop on the second. floor. The
length of the building was about 35 meters. On the second floor was a room with a
set about 3 x 3 x 3 meters, with many copier tubes, which bore resemblance to an
alcohol distilling ap aratuaa Above the set was a dome-like air exhaust. About 5
young officers worked on long tables in the laboratory and the ordnance shop; they
apparently performed chemical analyses:, Devices observed on the tables included
Bunsen-burners, various types of glass receivers and numerous test tubes filled
with liquids of various colors? Captain Grigorian (fnu), 30 to i0 years olds was
responsible for the ordnance shop and the laboratory. He wore golden epaulets with
red stripes. The Soviet officers who worked in the installation were from 20 to
30 ye-rs old, ranked from sub-lieutenant to senior lieutenant, and wire silver epau--
lets with blue stripes and two crossed propellers and, on the left breast, an erabroi-
dered eagle with a red middle section,3

orce lieutenant colonel as chief was determined in the area of the former air forc?
